OASIS® Midnight Waterproof Floral Tape – 1/2" x 60 Yards

When floral mechanics need stronger coverage and a discreet dark finish, a wider waterproof tape gives professional designers more holding surface with fewer strips. The OASIS® Midnight Waterproof Floral Tape – 1/2" x 60 Yards is a pressure-sensitive floral mechanics tape designed to secure floral foam and related mechanics to containers while maintaining adhesion in moisture-exposed conditions. Its Midnight black color pairs especially well with OASIS® Midnight Floral Foam, black vessels, sympathy designs, event installations, and other contemporary arrangements where visible green tape would be distracting. Manufactured by Smithers-Oasis for professional floral production, the 1/2-inch width provides broader contact than the 1/4-inch version, making it especially useful for larger foam sections, heavier mechanics, and designs that benefit from additional tape coverage.

• Width: 1/2 inch
• Roll Length: 60 yards / 180 feet
• Color: Midnight black
• Type: Pressure-sensitive waterproof floral mechanics tape
• Primary Use: Securing floral foam and mechanics to containers
• Moisture Resistance: Designed to maintain adhesion when exposed to moisture
• Recommended Pairing: OASIS® Midnight Floral Foam and dark floral mechanics

OASIS® Midnight Waterproof Tape is designed for professional floral work where reliable mechanics need to remain visually unobtrusive. The 1/2-inch width creates a broader adhesive contact area than the 1/4-inch Midnight tape, making it a better choice for larger containers, substantial foam sections, sympathy work, event designs, and arrangements where wider strips simplify reinforcement. Its dark color coordinates with Midnight Floral Foam and black or dark-colored vessels, helping exposed mechanics blend more naturally into the finished design. Smithers-Oasis formulates the pressure-sensitive tape to hold firmly on most suitable surfaces even when exposed to moisture, and the tape tears and cuts evenly for efficient shop production.

• Width Selection: The 1/2" format provides broader surface contact than the 1/4" Midnight tape and is particularly useful for larger or heavier mechanics
• Application Limitation: Best adhesion requires a clean, stable contact surface; standing water, dust, floral residue, or unstable finishes may reduce bond strength

For best adhesion, begin with a clean, stable container surface and remove standing water, dust, floral debris, or other residue from the contact area. Position the floral foam or mechanic securely, then pull the tape firmly across the foam and press the adhesive onto the container with consistent pressure. The broader 1/2-inch width is particularly useful when a design needs more contact area per strip, reducing the number of passes that may otherwise be required with narrower tape. For large foam blocks, substantial sympathy pieces, event mechanics, or transport-sensitive designs, use multiple strips in a crossed or reinforced pattern.

Apply the tape to the driest practical contact surface before introducing additional water whenever possible. Press along the entire adhesive area to activate the pressure-sensitive bond and check that each strip is firmly attached before beginning stem insertion. Waterproof floral tape is an important securing mechanic, but it should not be treated as the sole structural support for suspended, elevated, asymmetrical, or unusually heavy floral designs. Add cages, anchors, wire, zip ties, or other appropriate reinforcement when the weight and orientation of the finished arrangement require it.

Who Uses This: Professional wedding florists, event and corporate floral designers, funeral and sympathy florists, retail flower shops, hospitality floral teams, floral educators, production studios, and other professional designers who need wider, discreet waterproof tape for floral foam and arrangement mechanics.

What is the difference between the 1/2-inch and 1/4-inch OASIS® Midnight Waterproof Tape?
Both versions use the same Midnight black positioning and moisture-resistant pressure-sensitive adhesive, but the 1/2-inch tape provides twice the nominal width of the 1/4-inch version. That broader surface area makes the 1/2-inch format especially useful for larger foam sections, heavier arrangements, and containers where more adhesive contact is desirable. The 1/4-inch version offers more precise placement for smaller vessels and narrower mechanics. Both pair well with OASIS® Midnight Floral Foam and dark-colored containers.

Can OASIS® Midnight Waterproof Tape be used with wet floral foam?
Yes. Smithers-Oasis specifically markets OASIS® Waterproof Tape for securing floral foam and mechanics to containers and states that it maintains strong adhesion when exposed to moisture. For the best hold, attach the tape firmly to a clean surface before the work area becomes excessively wet. Use additional strips or mechanical reinforcement for especially large, elevated, heavy, or transport-sensitive arrangements. The 1/2-inch width is particularly useful when broader contact with the container is beneficial.

Important Use Note: Apply to a clean, stable surface and press firmly for proper adhesion. Although the tape is designed to hold when exposed to moisture, standing water, floral residue, dust, or unstable container finishes can reduce bond strength. For large, elevated, suspended, or transport-sensitive designs, use additional structural mechanics appropriate to the finished arrangement.
